Chess Weekend filled with pure joy and tears
The Queen’s Weekend ended with a Chess Weekend due to 43rd Trusts Chess Open Championship in Auckland. The Trophy was finally won by the Australian IM Brodie McClymont winning 6 out of 6 games and New Zealander’s taking the second and third place. The travel bubble has definitely helped the Australian to attend the event and take the top place.
As the tournament was categorised by grades, it was packed with people of all age groups in A Grade, B Grade, C Grade to Juniors fighting over the chessboard and away from their smart devices or the wet weather
One of the highlight from this event is watching some of the upsets besides pure joy and tears after hours of hard work. Nonetheless, the losses can only motivate the players to return with an improved game plan.
