Teerthaditya Rao, winner of the Chessroad Championship Trophy for August 2026

Congratulations to Teerthaditya Rao, who emerged as the overall winner of the Chessroad Championship Trophy for August 2026, finishing with a perfect score 5 out of 5 wins! His fine performance, particularly in the most critical games, earned him the Championship Trophy along with the prize money. A fantastic achievement!

Jack Harrison and Fiona Li shared 2nd place, each scoring an impressive 4 out of 5, while young Sai Krithikshan secured 4th place with a strong performance.

In the Under-8 category, Leon Santosa took 1st place and Ram Jithin finished 2nd. The Best Girl medal was awarded to Zhang Qingli. Congratulations to all our young players!

Jithin Valaparambil was awarded the Adult Prize. It was wonderful to see parents taking their seats at the chessboard and battling it out against the juniors.

Chess is truly a win-win experience for everyone. Whether it was a tense King hunt or a battle of time management, both juniors and adults had plenty to learn from each other. These experiences help us think, adapt, improve and perform better with every game.

It was also fantastic to see some participants celebrating their first tournament victories after previous setbacks. Their excitement and determination are a great reminder that hard work, persistence and motivation eventually pay off at the board.  As we all know, losses can teach us more than successes. 

A big congratulations to all the players for their effort, sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the tournament. Keep playing, keep learning and keep improving!

Our next tournament will be FIDE/NZCF rated, and we look forward to seeing all our players and parents at our next tournament.
