The first semifinal of the FIFA World Cup 2026 saw Spain produce a commanding performance to defeat France 2–0, booking their place in the final and sending Les Bleus into the third-place playoff. Spain controlled the tempo for much of the contest, limiting France's attacking opportunities and capitalising on their chances with a clinical display.

It was a disappointing day for France and their star forward Kylian Mbappé, who was unable to inspire his side against a disciplined Spanish defence. Despite entering the tournament as one of the favourites, France's World Cup dream came to an end, and they will now shift their focus to securing third place.

With Spain now through to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, all eyes turn to the second semifinal between England and Argentina.
