Day 12 Game 12 of FIDE World Championship

Ding hits Gukesh precisely in game 12 for victory

Ding strategically positioned his pieces to control the board early on, showcasing his expertise in the English opening despite his recent setback. A well prepared Ding hoped to gain advantage throughout the game including with the time against Gukesh the challenger of the FIDE World Championship.

Gukesh opened up the defence with e3 move on the board and gradually advanced the centre pawn to d4 square.  An early development of the Queen Knight forced the c7 pawn under developed which allowed Ding to centralise his Knight in the queenside forcing Gukesh to defend with an inaccurate move of the King Knight to d7 square.  With pieces badly placed with no space or strong piece activity his defence collapsed.  A complex battle on the board affected his time and the quality of his moves.

Ding pawns marched to the queen side well supported by his pieces and excellent tactical ideas and plans ended with a result of 1 - 0.  The score chart is now balanced with 6 points each with 2 more games to play after the fourth rest day today.

A flawless performance by Ding and precision on day 12 results in another record for Ding as he secures victory in the 12th game of the World Championship match.

This game displays a great comeback by Ding from the previous loss giving his fans to celebrate the victory.

The final 2 decisive matches awaits to determine the World Champion for 2024
