Day 8 and Game 8 of FIDE World Championship

Ding and Gukesh keep score chart balanced in Game 8

An English opening in Singapore for Game 8 by Ding featuring c4 on the board with the white pieces to exploit strategic opportunities. Gukesh, playing with black, responded with e5 to establish an asymmetrical position.

Utilizing an overstepped dark square Bishop to Ba3 square to maintain tension on the board for Gukesh playing with the Black pieces. Gukesh adeptly controlled the position by activating pieces.

With tactical ideas on the board, Gukesh was left with an exchange down as the Queen was left on the board. After a tense battle on the chessboard, Gukesh found himself at a disadvantage with an exchange down against Ding. Despite his efforts to regain the upper hand, the game eventually ended in a draw with a result of 1/2 - 1/2 in game 8.

Both players had significant opportunities, but the World Championship games differ from other tournaments, making it challenging to win a match due to various external and internal factors.

Balanced score chart shows 4 points each after game 8 with another game tonight before players rest on their third day.
