Double Titles for GM Magnus Carlsen at 2025 World Rapid and Blitz Championship

The Qatar 2025 FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Championship attracted elite group of chess players from around the world for two swift time control events in both the Open and the Women's categories.

GOAT, GM Magnus Carlsen showed once more why he's the best in the world until today by securing the double titles in the Open - Rapid and Blitz championship.  His sixth title in the World Rapid Championship and ninth title in the World Blitz Championship.

 

Playing with sweaty fingers, polished chessboards affected his games, leading to dropped pieces and fumbling under time pressure. Despite losses and forfeits in both Rapid and Blitz, he persevered, maintaining a winning streak alongside other top players.

Observing GM Magnus Carlsen's games is always fascinating, as he remains the crowd favourite among the top contenders.

India GM Arjun Erigaisi's performance at the tournament showcased his talent and skill, securing third place in both sections and solidifying his status as a favourite among Indian and global fans.

In the Women's Category, GM Aleksandra Goryachkina won her first World Rapid Championship and GM Bibisara Assaubayeva won her third title in the World Blitz Championship. Both the players had some critical games to secure the titles.
