Chess International Day at Alberton House!

Auckland Central Chess Club arranged a 'Pieces vs Pawns' Tournament at Alberton House in Auckland to commemorate Chess International Day today.

Alberton House, a grand colonial estate in Mt Albert, Auckland constructed in 1863 by Kerr Taylor family, situated in a historic garden, displays the family's original possessions including artwork, wallpaper, furniture, dining sets, cutlery, children's decor, dolls, sewing accessories and more.

While celebrating chess with other chess enthusiasts, it was fascinating to have the chance to visit Alberton house, which is open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday.

Pieces vs Pawns or Seniors vs Juniors, a team of Players competed in the Ballroom of Alberton House. Pieces  excelled in the tournament and Pawns had the chance to play and expand their chess knowledge. About 30 participants, as well as their families and friends, attended the event to mark Chess International Day.

New Zealand Grandmaster Murray Chandler awarded the prizes to the winners. Auckland Central Chess Club excelled in organizing the tournament.

Thanks to the team for the event and providing players with a chance to visit Alberton House, a family treasure open to the public to visit.

The forthcoming Chessroad Tournament set for Saturday 26 July will celebrate Chess International Day with our chess players.
