GM Humpy, a skilled player achieved second place with a spot in the Candidates as well, had outstanding performance at this event following a long chess break.
GM Humpy choice to disrupt the pawn center in the endgame ruined her opportunity to secure a draw and allowing IM Divya to win the tiebreak match.
Both players should be satisfied with their performance to secure the final spot after numerous knockout rounds and tie-breaks during the last 23 days.
The 3rd place is secured by GM Tan Zhongyi of China after defeating GM Lei Tingjie.
The format for the Women's World Cup includes knockout rounds and tie-breaks if each round ends without decisive results. While the top players enter the team in Round 2, this format is lengthy with only one game per day during the Rounds and tiebreak games of the Round on a separate day.
