GM Levon Aronian defeats GM Hans Niemann in a Freestyle Chess Grand Slam event at Las Vegas.

Champion GM Levon Aronian triumphs over competitor GM Hans Niemann in Las Vegas Freestyle Chess Grand Slam. Levon reached the final spot by defeating fan favorite and legendary GM Magnus Carlsen alongside GM Hikaru Nakamura.
GM Levon was pleased with his efforts in the 3rd Freestyle chess event following his subpar performance in the initial event at Weissenhaus.
In Freestyle chess, players use random piece positions to encourage creativity and spontaneity.
The tournament in Las Vegas began with 16 players competing in knockout rounds against top competitors. GM Magnus Carlsen struggled initially, losing 2 matches to the eventual champion GM Levon Aronian. Despite this setback, Magnus secured third place by defeating GM Hikaru Nakamura. He also had a complete victory over GM Vidit Gujarati in the knockout rounds as pictured below.

GM Hans Niemann, lost in the final match against GM Levon Aronian after a draw in the first game followed by a loss. While he had opportunities in the initial match, it wasn't his strongest performance. He secured 2nd place at his first Freestyle chess event.
The fans in Las Vegas had the chance to observe games live, meet top players, and experience a unique event. They could listen to commentators and follow every move made by the players.
The upcoming event in September features the top 6 winners from Las Vegas competing in the next Freestyle Style Chess Grand Slam event. The venue is still pending announcement.
